FORMED:
Has been Involved in local community development since 1989. Phennick Cove Developments was set up in 1994. Main aim - to exploit the tourism potential of the area, while at the same time meeting community needs.

POPULATION:
2,700 (approx.). 322 people work in fishing, 29 on a part time and 293 on a full time basis. This represents 16% of the total Northern Ireland employment in the industry. 13% of the Northern Ireland Fishing Fleet is located in Ardglass.

PROJECTS UNDER FISHING VILLAGES PROGRAMME: Construction of a sheltered boat park within the Harbour area with 55 berths for visiting pleasure craft and permanent moorings for local boats; provision of an amenity building with an administration office; landscaping around the site including planting, seating, lighting and surfacing to car parks.

OTHER PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED:

Development of a major water based tourism facility combining high quality tourist accommodation, fine cuisine and water based activities; provision of a commercial slip.
